Leon “Cotton” Rawlings, 80, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Gary Ruffin officiating.

Mr. Rawlings was born on September 29, 1931 in Troup, Texas. He lived in Sweetwater since 1943 where he was co-owner and operator of Short Grocery for several years.

Survivors include: Son- Leon Rawlings, Jr. and his wife, Kaye, of Abilene, Texas; Former wife, Louise Foust Rawlings of Sweetwater; Brother-W. Lee Rawlings and his wife, Sue, of Sweetwater; 3 Grandchildren- John Rawlings and his wife, Tiffany, of Roscoe, SGM Terry Wade and his wife, Wendy, of El Paso, Heather Reyes and her husband, Tim, of Abilene; 7 Great-grandchildren; and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Lourie Luce Rawlings, a daughter, Janie Elaine Woodward, sister, Edith Lawhon, and a brother, Johnny Rawlings.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
